Graphic.ly Launches Comic Print Alternative

While he may not have a San Francisco mailing address, Micah Baldwin’s latest undertaking deserves local attention for the community and innovation expertise he regularly shares here. And if the annual SF -> ComicCon pilgrimage is only indication, I think that area fantasy and visual work aficionados will enjoy the beta for the comic delivery platform Graphic.ly now that CES and The Crunchies are over.

The community platform is to add to the digital comics experience by increasing its interactivity with social features that print comics lack. After bringing Marvel’s work to iPhone users, Windows 7 and web-based offerings are to be publicly rolled out this year.

Baldwin helped start the publishing service after meeting his co-founder, Kevin Mann, at the Boulder-based incubator Techstars and working in business development for Lijit (see bottom right of this page). Of his partner, Baldwin said, “I knew that with a solid tech and design team that my business and marketing knowledge would produce a solid team…given the fun this company would be and the team, I couldn’t pass it by.” Graphic novel and comic lovers have reason to be glad he didn’t.
