Dia de los Muertos SF

Two of the best costumes I saw while handing out candy in Cole Valley with pals on Saturday were women wearing bright dresses, flowers and white faces, and it got me most excited for Dia de los Muertos today. (Consider it the best Halloween hangover cure–not to mention a good excuse to consider our existence and mortality.)Screen shot 2009-11-02 at 11.08.56 AM

The Meso-American holiday will be celebrated with performances and a walking procession starting at 24th and Bryant at 7 tonight. A large-scale altar installation created by the Marigold Project will also be celebrated at Garfield Park until the late hours.
