The good folks at clothier apliiq (previously featured for their well-designed custom hoodies, Ts, et al) has offered to create a one-of-a-kind T for one Goliblogski reader in August. They help wearers select fabrics for original apparel and offer some colorful goods online as well; see exhibit A, the Spring of 89 Hoody Dress they just sent to the new digs in Hayes Valley (it may not be worn with white cowboy boots but will still reak of the Decade of Excess).
A gal or guy can win the custom item if they’re able to help with an ongoing project by commenting. In preparing a regular column for the online magazine Notes on Design, I’d love your recommendations on female designers of note; whether they be specialists in graphic, informational, or product design, knowing whose work you can’t pass up will be fantastic (and could land you a shirt that’s to your liking).

patricia urquiola, eileen gray and florence knoll – all great furniture / product designers

My favorite is Sage Raval! http://sageraval.com/home.html She makes everything from castoff mailing and packaging materials, discarded wrapping and scraps, and then hand-stitches them all together to make incredible art!
I also love our graphic designer, http://www.alyssawarnock.com/ She created our beloved ecofabulous owl!
Also Elana Bober of http://www.goldiehome.com – truly luxurious organic bedding, clean palette, modern designs
And Erin Barnes of http://www.shopsprucedesign.com – mod, nature-inspired throw pillows with a trendy touch of fuschia.
